Hypnotherapy for Sleep — Calm-Ops Hypnosis
Sleep Improvement

When sleep stops working.

For people who can’t fall asleep, can’t stay asleep, or wake up at 3am with their brain already going. Hypnotherapy works on what’s underneath the sleep problem, not on top of it.

What this actually looks like

You’ve tried everything.

You’ve done the sleep hygiene. The cool room, the no-screens-before-bed, the magnesium, the white noise, the blackout curtains, the consistent schedule, all of it.

Some of it helps a little. None of it solves the problem. You still lie there at 11pm, mind running through tomorrow. Or you fall asleep fine and wake up at 3am wide awake, brain already on. Or you sleep, technically, but wake up exhausted like you haven’t slept at all.

The frustrating part is that you know what good sleep is supposed to feel like. You remember being able to do it. The fact that you can’t now feels personal. Like the body that used to know how forgot.

It didn’t forget. The pattern just got rewritten somewhere along the way. Patterns can be rewritten again.

How hypnotherapy works on this

Most sleep problems aren’t about sleep.

The body that can’t fall asleep at 11pm is the body that has been running stress hormones all day.

Cortisol, adrenaline, the sympathetic nervous system — the system that’s supposed to switch off as the sun goes down stays partially on because it never got a real break. By bedtime, your body is asking it to do something it hasn’t practiced in a while. Stand down. Let go. Slow the engine.

Hypnotherapy works on the daytime pattern that’s producing the nighttime problem. We work on the unconscious signal that’s keeping the engine running. We work on the bedtime moment itself — the body’s automatic response to lying down, the mind’s habitual jump-to-tomorrow, the 3am wake-up that’s become a routine of its own.

Then we install a different pattern. The body remembers how to do this. We just have to give it permission to remember, and reinforce the new pattern until it becomes the default.

What a session looks like

Concretely, here’s the work.

First session, 60 to 90 minutes. We talk first. What does your sleep look like specifically — when did it start breaking, what’s the actual pattern, what have you tried, what feels closest to the cause when you’re honest with yourself.

Then we do the hypnotherapy work. You’re deeply relaxed, fully aware. We work on whatever pattern is producing your specific sleep problem. The trouble falling asleep, the wakeups, the wired-but-tired feeling. Each pattern has a different mechanism underneath it, and the work is tailored to which one you’re running.

I send you home with a custom audio recording for sleep, specifically. You can listen at bedtime, or whenever your sleep needs reinforcement. The recording does some of the work between sessions, so we don’t lose ground.

Sleep work tends to move quickly. Most clients see noticeable change within the first or second session. Most are at their goal in three to four sessions. Sleep is one of the most responsive areas to hypnotherapy because the nervous system is already designed to do it — it just needs the right cue.

What this isn’t

The honest line.

If you have sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, a sleep disorder diagnosed by a sleep study, or a medical condition that’s affecting your sleep, those need medical care first. Hypnotherapy can’t address an obstructed airway or a neurological condition. See your doctor, get the medical piece handled, and then come back if there’s a stress or pattern layer that’s still affecting your sleep on top of the medical issue.

If your insomnia is part of a diagnosed mental health condition — major depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder — please work with a licensed clinician for the underlying condition. Hypnotherapy can sometimes help alongside that care, in coordination with your treating provider.

For everyone else — the people whose sleep got broken somewhere along the way, who have ruled out the medical causes, who know something in the system isn’t letting them rest — this is the work I do.
